Further to Bob Curry's post, I could not find the Western Grebe between about 12 and 2 pm today at Ashbridges Bay, having searched most of the waters surrounding the peninsula. Several Iceland Gulls were in the lake and roosting on the ice near the Marina, and the usual panoply of waterfowl was around, including both scaup species and Redhead. The wind was variable but viewing conditions were generally good, so I don't feel I would have overlooked the bird if it was indeed present when I was. I'll probably still try again in a couple of days to see if it has returned.
