Though this is not a truly rare bird, it is quite uncommon in the Upper
Ottawa Valley. The wren is located in Pansy Patch Park, and if it is singing
you will need no directions to find it.The park is a small island. The bird is
best seen or heard from the north end of the island ( the downstream end)
,while looking west, across the muskrat river. This bird has been here all
winter, but it has not been singing, making it quite difficult to find. This
morning it was singing @ 11:30. I post this note assuming that more singing is
likely in the weeks ahead.
In 30 minutes or so, at least a dozen other species were also seen, most
notably a brown creeper. Not bad for a city park.
Take highway 41 to Mackay St. Turn left, and one block, later turn left on
Dickson St. It dead ends against the park. I hope you get to see it.
