Mark Breaks and I birded Amhurst Island this afternoon to look for the
Snowy Owls, we spent five hours touring all the roads and we found a grand
total
of 21 Snowy Owls scattered throughout the Island, they were all were seen
from the car. After doing all the roads once and heading to the 8pm ferry, we
found between the KFN property and the ferry several new Snowy Owls and a
Short eared Owl sitting on fence posts in some fields we had already checked
earlier in the afternoon, there may be more to be found on the island if
this evening showing of the owls is also to be found on the rest of the island.
We gave up counting the Rough-legs but over 80 were seen. We also saw the
white Red-tailed Hawk that Paul O'Toole saw on Saturday.
