During a nice sunny, warm spell on Apr.17th at 7:30pm I got a new species for
my "backyard list" - a male Snowy Owl. From the direction of Kingston's
offshore islands, it was travelling on a 22-kph SW-wind.

It was definitely migrating out, because it was flying at the highest altitude
I've ever seen a Snowy Owl and covered a great distance in a couple of minutes.
It was hotly pursued by several angry Herring Gulls at an altitude of 150m,
heading NW. Until now, I had always thought that Snowy Owls migrate in/out
after darkness.

Though Snowy Owls are migrating out now, I have seen stragglers on Amherst
Island into early May.
