The strong southerly winds of the last day and a half have resulted in
birds moving in and out of the area. New at Cape Hurd today are
singing Winter Wrens, White-throated Sparrows (both phases), and a
male Rufous-sided Towhee hanging around the feeders. These southerly
winds appear to have also carried off most of the very numerous Slate-
colored Juncos, which are almost absent at Cape Hurd today.

Cape Hurd (near Tobermory) forms the extreme north-western tip of the
Bruce Peninsula and is squarely on a major southern Ontario migration
route, resulting in strong numbers of migrants and interesting rarities.
