Hi all, this morning I birded the Chaffey's Lock and the Opinicon road area. Among the many birds seen were: -Common Loons -Red-shouldered Hawk 2 -Ruffed Grouse heard drumming only -Barred Owl 2 very well seen -Common Nighthawk 3 -Ruby-throated Hummingbird 2 - Belted Kingfisher 1 -Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1 (plus many woodpeckers heard drumming, but couldn't tell the species) -Eastern Wood-Pewee 1 -Least Flycatcher several -Eastern Phoebe 1 -Great Crested Flycatcher 1 -Yellow-throated Vireo several heard -Blue-gray Gnatcatcher several -Eastern Bluebird appx. 10 -Wood Thrush 2 (an individual sitting on the nest ) -Golden-winged Warbler 1 male singing -Brewster's Warbler 1 singing -Cerulean Warbler 7 singing, two showed particularly well -Blackburnian Warbler 1 -Black-throated Green Warbler 1 -Black-and-white Warbler 5 -American Redstart several -Ovenbird numerous singing -Indigo Bunting at least 10 -Eastern Towhee 1
A good and pleasant morning all in all. Good birding Mathieu DIRECTIONS: Follow Hwy 15 south (if you come from Ottawa or north if you come from Kingston) and turn onto Chaffey's Lock Road. Follow it through Chaffey's Lock and continue on Opinicon Road.
