Good Evening:
Highlight of a nice evening stroll around the Exeter lagoons, was a group of 7 Black Terns. Each sitting on their own float in the second cell. As well, a non-breeding plumaged Forster's tern. Still had the eye patch but beginning to get the two-tone bill. Other niceties were a great many Purple Martins, Wood duck, Shovelers, GW Teal, Gadwalls, Ruddy Duck, Dunlin, SP sandpipers and spotties. As Norm Murr would say, an enjoyable evening with enjoyable company. But alas, no company.... sigh... Rick Thornton, Exeter, ON The lagoons can be reached by going south on Airport Line from 83 highway, west of Exeter. Go in the second gate, parking without blocking the driveway. Just a reminder that a permit is required to be on your dashboard, when visiting the lagoons. These can be obtained free from the town office during business hours. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
