A large number of people came to help, anticipating a far better
raptor-migration day. However the wind stayed out of the west for the 5
hours we stayed. We did note that the Ospreys made great use of the thermals
as they drifted westward.
Raptor Observations:
3 turkey vulture, 6 osprey, 4 Sharp-shinned, 1 N.Harrier, 1 Broad-winged, 2
Red-tailed, 1 MERLIN
Non-raptor Observations: marsh wren, rose-breasted grosbeak, many
hummingbirds, Wilson's warbler, black-throated green warbler, chimney swift,
moorhen, Virginia rail, American redstart, Wilson's snipe, warbling vireo,
GREEN HERON, Caspian tern.
From the 401 eastbound, exit at Salem Rd. in Ajax, south to Bayly, the east
through Lakeridge Rd. to the first street beyond-Hall's Rd.--south toward
the lake to the second roadside parking area.
