Kudos to their staff and all of the vendors. Thanks to all the visitors, which were too many to keep track. Weather: Winds were out of the east most of the day. Clear conditions predominated, with a bit of nice cirrus in the later part of the day. Barometric pressure fell throughout the day, especially in the afternoon with the incoming storm systems. Raptor Observations: It was a poor day of broad-wing watching in comparison with earlier in the week and yesterday. The broad-wing push will have to wait until after these storms starting tonight. However, turkey vultures had a strong showing with 102. This is the highest count this year by far. Red-tails were also the best of the season with 17. Bald eagles were notable with seven. Non-raptor Observations: An adult mississippi kite flew over in the 4th hour (submittal of photographs to Michigan Rare Birds Committee forthcoming). Predictions: Storms acomin'. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
