Dear ONTBIRDERS
Nature Canada in collaboration with Ontario Field Ornithologists is conducting a survey of Ontario birder on your views about wind farms and birding. A number of wind farm projects are proposed, or have been constructed near some of the top birding hotspots in Ontario, including Point Pelee, Long Point, Rondeau, and near Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area. It turns out that important areas for bird migration are also areas of high value for the wind energy industry. Wind farms are now a common sight near Port Burwell, in Essex/Kent in Prince Edward County, and various other locations. We would like to know your views on wind energy and whether the presence of a wind farm near a birding hotspot would influence your decision to visit the area. We have an on-line survey that we would like to complete http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=jTZY5UfYxQ3xn4w8xv8cEA_3d_3d Some of the questions are optional, some require answers (will not let you leave the page until they are answered), but in general it is very easy to do. Personal information gathered will remain strictly confidential and will not be shared with other organizations or persons. Nature Canada intends to use the summarized data for reports and studies that it is doing. Results will also be published in the OFO Newsletter and on the Nature Canada Website. Click on the following link to do the survey and follow the instructions. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=jTZY5UfYxQ3xn4w8xv8cEA_3d_3d Any questions can be addressed to Ted Cheskey at [email protected] _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
