Had a wonderful afternoon birding the extensive mudflats at Wildwood Resevoir
outside Harriston, ON. The White Pelican is still there. An adult Peregrine
falcon put the gulls up, the Canada Geese, Shorebirds and Pelican followed suit.
Among the shorebirds there was at least one Long-billed Dowitcher (possibly
two), 3 Short-billed Dowitcher, 6 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Greater Yellowlegs,
numerous Killdeer...and a number of other peep flocks too distant to ID with
binoculars (only saw them when the Peregrine and subsequent suspected Cooper's
Hawk put them up). A couple others i will have to pull out the books for...as i
am not sure of the ID. I will post again if something unusual.
A few flocks of yellow-rumped warblers were working the tree-line beside the
road up towards the bridge. Also the usual Canada Geese, 100s of gulls, dozens
of Great Blue Herons, Belted Kingfisher, Turkey Vultures, Capsian Terns,
Bluejay.
Happy Birding,
