I received a report of two Eurasian Wigeon along the Long Sault Parkway west of Cornwall. The birds were seen on Wednesday by members of the North Leads club. Being unfamiliar with the area, the observers didn't note the exact island locations but one bird was near the eastern end close to Phillpotts Island and the other was towards the west, likely near Dickinson Island. The birds were associating with American Wigeon and were best viewed with a scope. Most waterfowl observed along this route are seen on the north side of the road.
Brian Morin Cornwall The Long Sault Parkway is accessible from County Rd 2 west of Cornwall. The western end is at Ingleside (Exit 770 from the 401) and the eastern end is at Long Sault (exit 778 from the 401). The islands along the parkway are signed. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
