Among the 7 were Jim McCoy, Olga Klekner, Rene Kielbasa, Dean Porter, and Rachael Sussman. Weather: Low overcast skies through late AM with considerable clearing through PM. Mostly clear skies from 1400 to 1600 EST. Northwest to North-northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph with some gusts in excess of 20 mph. Temps. ranged from 8.2 to 12C. Visibility excellent for most of the day. Raptor Observations: As expected, there was a sizeable flight of raptors today, predominantly Vultures and Sharpies. First considerable flight of Turkey Vultures this season. Vulture kettles started passing by late morning and continued through the afternoon. Likely the final significant push of Broadwings this season with a total of 215. Non-raptor Observations: 14 species of waterfowl including 2 FOF Canvasbacks and a putative flock of 60 Atlantic Brant. Black-crowned Night-Heron- 3, Bald Eagle- at least 6 locals, Killdeer- 5, Greater Yellowlegs- 1, Common Nighthawk- 4, Chimney Swift- 12, N. Rough-winged Swallow- 30+, Barn Swallow- 2+, Blue Jay- 31,000+, Am. Pipit- 3, Cedar Waxwing- 70, Few warblers on the ground; only 6 species recorded. Indigo Bunting- 1, Purple Finch- 6, Am. Goldfinch- 2,820, Other: Monarch- 15. Predictions: Clear skies with West-northwest to West winds at 5 mph. High of 17C.
