Hi all,

This afternoon I found an adult nonbreeding RED PHALAROPE on the west side of the west cell, the one closest to the road. It was still swimming about when I left at 2:15 pm.

ACCESS: Contact (during weekdays) Richard Villeneuve, Township of
Alfred and Plantagenet at (613) 679-2292 for the required annual permit to enter the lagoons. You can purchase your permit at the Municipal Office next to the fire hall on the main street (HWY 17). During the hunting season Conservation Officers may check up on you and if you don't have your permit you may be CHARGED with TRESPASSING. Daily group permits are also available.

Birding from the observation tower is free (does not require a permit). The phalarope may or may not be visible from the tower.

DIRECTIONS: From the town of Alfred go east on Highway 17, then turn south (right) on Peat Moss Road and drive for 2 km. The lagoons are on your left (east
side of road). Please park in the designated parking lot.
