Visitors:
A few visitors today but sorry didn't get any names. :)
Weather:
Another near perfect day for hawk migration and hawkwatching. Winds were
light from the NW to start then gained strength as the morning wore on.
Lots of cloud cover and again rain threatened but never really developed.
Temp was still cool with a high of 10C.
Raptor Observations:
An excellent flight today with a total of 4017 birds...including TV's
(3419), Sharpies (333), a few each of Red-shoulders (10) and Redtails (18).
Our second Goshawk of the season along with a lone Broadwing and some good
falcon sightings with Kestrels (183), Merlins (6) and Peregrines (2). There
were 12 different species tallied for the day.
Non-raptor Observations:
Thanks fot Mary C. for a list of other sightings...highlights were Sandhill
Cranes (3), lots of Common Loons, Orange-crowned Waeblers, lots of
Kinglets, Tree Swallos (75+), Purple Martin, Chimney Swift, Winter and
House Wren, large flocks of Blue Jays, Blackbirds, Crows and Am. Goldfinch.
Also a Pileated Woodpecker.
Predictions:
Wednesday looks good with predicted moderate NE winds and lots of sun with
a few clouds.
