Strong NE wind, a rising BP and good thermals perhaps brought 12 observers
down
to Cranberry this AM; BUT, all-over blue sky made it difficult to see any
high-fliers.
While looking for migrating raptors we were entertained by a Red-tailed Hawk
cavorting
with a Peregrine Falcon, followed by a Sharp-shinned Hawk "daring" the
Peregrine to
take him on!!
Just as the Falcon settled into a corner tree we had a visit by a large
class of students from
Rouge Valley P.S. Dave Worthington set up his scope so that everyone of the
kids
had a great look at the bird.

69 Turkey Vultures, 2 N.Harriers, 5 Sharp-shinneds, 28 RED-TAILEDS,
1 Am.Kestrel, 2 Peregrine Falcon.
Non-raptor observations: Some of them-- Eastern Towhee, WILSON'S SNIPE(2),
several Juncos, GREATER & LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
Great Egret, Eastern Phoebe, 3 TRUMPETERS (2 adults, one with A71 wing tag),
RUSTY BLACKBIRD
From the 401 eastbound, exit at Salem Rd. in Ajax, south to Bayly, then east
through LakeRidge Rd. to the first street beyond---Hall's Rd.--south toward
the lake
to the second roadside parking area.
