Weather: Partly to mostly cloudy skies with South-southwest to South-southeast winds at 1 to 7 mph, but averaged about 4 to 5 mph. Temps. ranged from 10.5 to 13.5C. Visibility was reduced by haze and considered fair at best. Raptor Observations: A lift off of 58 Turkey Vultures around 0930 EST was the raptor highlight of the day. Non-raptor Observations: 14 species of waterfowl, Common Loon- 2, Black-crowned Night-heron- 2 juv., Great Egret- 9, Common Moorhen- 3+, Killdeer- 107, Greater Yellowlegs- 1, Pectoral Sandpiper- 11 (one westbound flock of 8), Wilson's Snipe- 3, Chimney Swift- 8 (seems late), Horned Lark- 332+ (first significant movement), Tree Swallow- 30+, N. Rough-winged Swallow- 10+, Blue Jay- 3,155, Am. Crow- 220, Am. Robin- 68, Am. Pipit- 110+, Cedar Waxwing- 162, Snow Bunting- 1 (heard only; FOF) Purple Finch- 2, House Finch- 20, Am. Goldfinch- 3,410. Predictions: Mostly sunny skies with South-southwest winds at 5 to 15 mph. High of 20C. Slight chance of a passing shower in the early AM.
