Hello Ontbirders,

The Blackpoll Warbler discovered near the lighthouse at Dick Bell Park
yesterday by Jeff Skevington was still there today - although it took me two
attempts to find it! After missing it on my first walk out to the lighthouse,
I found it unexpectedly between 10:30 and 11:00 am this morning in one of the
trees near the lighthouse. It was seen by myself, Marilyn Ward and Chris Bruce
and spent some time in each of the trees in the cluster. Note - this is one of
the quietest birds I've seen foraging, so don't rely on finding it by ear alone.

Later this morning, around noon, I saw a single female Long-tailed Duck in the
largest of the three quarry ponds on Moodie. Also present with the numerous
geese were a single male Ruddy Duck, several Hooded Mergansers and a few
Ring-necked Ducks.

Directions:

Dick Bell Park (courtesy of NeilyWorld): From Highway 417 the Moodie Drive
exit. Go north on Moodie and follow it to Carling Avenue. Turn right on Carling
and go 1.2 km to the turnoff for the parking lot for Dick Bell Park and the
Nepean Sailing Club. Turn left or northeast into the parking area.

Moodie Drive Quarry Ponds (courtesy of NeilyWorld): From Highway 416 take the
Fallowfield Road exit. Go west on Fallowfield for 0.4 km to reach Moodie Drive.
Turn left or southeast onto Moodie Drive and go 5.3 km, passing Cambrian Road
to reach the quarries (second gate on the left). Park along the side of the
road without blocking the access. Note - this site is private property and is
an active quarry. The Long-tailed Duck and the other waterfowl were all easily
seen with a scope from the gate.

Good birding,
