Also it was nice to see a family group stop by today. They had some younger kids with them that were really into watching the hawks so that was really fun to point out birds to them and teach them about the birds. Weather: Today saw light Northeast winds at around 0-6mph. It also had 0% cloud cover and clear visibility. Raptor Observations: 233 raptors counted today with 104 being Red-tailed Hawks. 82 were Red-shouldered Hawks. Many of them must have stopped near the count site the night before, for we could see many kettles of Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks near by and early in the day. 3 Golden Eagles, 1 Rough-legged Hawk, and 1 Northern Goshawk were all nice highlights. Non-raptor Observations: Not much else was around. More American Tree Sparrows move in. Predictions: Might be kind of slow with East or East-South-East winds. But it should be warm again and have had some good days on light East winds too. So it might be OK. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Seth Cutright ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
