After 11 days of doing lakewatch in the mornings in front of my house in
Whitby, persistence finally paid off this morning at 8:40 a.m. A single Cave
Swallow was seen flying in from the west about 50 metres off the shoreline. It
flew past my house and east along the lakefront parallel to Crystal Beach
Boulevard. It flew inland somewhere near the outlet of the Corbett Creek Marsh
and at that point was lost to view.
Directions: To reach Crystal Beach Blvd., exit Hwy 401 at the Thickson Road
exit, drive down Thickson Rd. right to the Lake Ontario shore. Crystal Beach
Blvd. is the road that runs east from Thickson Road at the lake.
