Posting for Peter Gilchrist who probably has experience with this species in Japan.
Hello Mark
Please forgive me for asking you to post a sighting for me. You may recall that
I stopped being a direct participant in Ontbirds because of the cost to me,
when traveling, of receiving emails. I access it through birdingonthe.net.
I saw the Gull quite well today in the harbour at Port Stanley at 1:30 pm. I had birded the whole Port Burwell - Port Stanley corridor without any luck (although I did see the Brant reported today from Port Burwell) and was about to give up when I noticed a fishing boat coming towards the Port Stanley harbour with a number of gulls circling about. I had seen precious few gulls all day, and had theorized that they were all out over the lake, so I thought this boat might be bringing some of them back to shore. Sure2nough, there it was, circling about, not more than 200' away. Great day. Regards
Peter
