Hello all! I saw 2 mature bald eagles (fully black & white) crossing highway 11 this afternoon by Sharpe Lake Road (around 3pm-Thursday December 17th). They seemed to be following a herring gull while simultaneously being mauled by a common raven. They flew from the west side of the highway (near the dump road) to one of the pits on Sharpe Lake Road flying east, over to the frozen lake and then flew back in northwesterly direction. Has anyone else been seeing eagles this fall up here? Great siting for count week!!
To get to this area, head north on highway 11 from North Bay. Sharpe Lake Road is between the Cobalt and Haileybury exits from highway 11. The dump road is one road north of Sharpe Lake on the west side of highway 11. Good Winter Birding! Maggie -- Maggie MacPherson (Biology) MSc.
