After a tip that the bird was sighted yesterday, I returned to the rocks that Andrew Keaveney had spotted his bird at two days ago and where the bird was reseen yesterday. At 3:15 p.m. I saw the bird gleaning insects inbetween the rocks about half way down the pier that extends east from the white light house on the east side of the channel leading into the inner harbour(the west side of the marina). The bird was seen here twice and then Dave Don and I saw the bird fly down the rocks to the east a bit where it dropped in again. It is extremely elusive to say the least. I first had it about 40 feet west of a red life buoy half way down this pier that you walk out on which encloses the marina. The bird was on the lake side.
Directions: Bronte Harbour is located at the end of Bronte Road in Oakville. I parked right where Bronte Road ends and turns into Ontario Street. You will see the lighthouse on the east side of the channel to the inner harbour. The pier juts out east of here and is the only pier you can walk on. Stopping sporadically to check between the rocks is how I found it. Patience is a must...... If you need clarification, email privately. Happy New Year!
