My first time birding this area and thanks to posts from other birders, including Bob and Corinne Falconer yesterday, I was lucky enough to see:
- one Snowy Owl - at the very south end of that little piece of Yonge street that runs southward from the west end of Ravenshoe Road west of Leslie (Yonge Street is not marked, but it is literally the only south turn from the end of Ravenshoe; at the south end of this piece of Yonge St., the Snowy was about 300 M to the west, perched variously on different pieces of idle farm machinery; apparently yesterday, the Owl was east of Yonge Street) - two sightings of Rough-legged Hawks - once looking south from Ravenshoe Road approx. one km. before the west end of the road, and another one from the very top of Bathurst St. (looking toward the East) - one N. Shrike - driving north on Bathurst, this was on small trees to your left at the beginning of the open area at the top of Bathurst (i.e. just past the forested area as you drive North) - one flock of about 20 Snow Buntings, on fields near Canal Road between Pumphouse Rd and Hgy 400 (closer to Pumphouse than 400) Jack Alvo Toronto _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
