The Gray-Crowned Rosy-Finch is being more frequently seen in a vacant lot, opposite the landfill site, on Penn Lake Rd E. in Marathon. I saw the bird at 4:30 pm, and several other local birders found it at the same location an hour later. It was keeping company with a pair of Snow Buntings.
New photos, a short video clip, and a Google Map to the spot can be seen here: http://northshorenature.blogspot.com/2010/03/gray-crowned-rosy-finch-update.html The Town of Marathon is located off Hwy 17 (Trans-Canada) 250 km NW of Sault Ste. Marie or 280 km E of Thunder Bay.
