Got a call from a friend Doug Lewis that he saw a pair pf Sandhill Cranes fling north above the Rideau River this morning around 11am.
Last year, Doug found a pair of Sandhill Cranes that I also had independently found the same day in the large harvested cornfield just north of Burritts Rapids. I went there at noon today but saw no sign of the birds, although there are significant undulations in the field where they could easily be out of sight. Good birding, Gerard Phillips.
