Hi folks, The Brown Thrasher that I first reported back on Dec 6th, 2009 and again on Feb 9th, 2010 is still alive and well. It continues to come to a feeder in town (86 Essex Lane in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). It has been feeding at this backyard location since the middle of Nov 2009. The most recent photos of this bird were taken this week.
It now has to compete with a large group of European Starling (70+) that fell from the sky one day in early March (about the time when the first groups of Common Grackle and Red-winged Blackbirds started arriving). Is it a male or female??? No vocalization attempts have been heard/observed to date. Sault Ste. Marie is located 3 hours west of Sudbury. Essex Lane is located in the east end of Sault Ste.
