The Couchiching Conservancy is planning a Grassland Bird Monitoring Project in
Ramara Township this spring. Would you like to get involved?

Purpose: to gain a set of comparative data to that collected for the Carden
Plain Important Bird Area monitoring done in both 2000 and 2008. This will
serve two purposes, first to focus conservation efforts to important areas in
the Ramara extension of the Carden Plain; and second, to make a stronger case
for grassland bird conservation in the core area of the Carden Plain.
Location: Ramara Township - just west of Carden Township
Timing: between May 28 and June 14, and between 5 and 10 am

Volunteers needed: 6 teams of two volunteers
Skills required: identification of grassland birds of southern Ontario by sight
and sound
Comittment: one or two days, depending on the number of sites, to complete two
5-minute point counts at up to 10 roadside sites Reimbursement: mileage and
other expenses incurred during this study will be reimbursed

All the best,
