This morning at approximately 9:30 Brett Fried, Erica Hentsch, and I had 2 male
Pine Warblers. They were located inside the Provincial Park near the
playground. This is at least 1/2 a km from the gate. We had a 3rd Pine Warbler
much closer to the gate, however it may have been one of the first two.
Shouldn't be too hard to relocate these if they stick around as they are
singing.
Other decent birds included 2 Field Sparrow, 3 Eastern Towhee, 1 Fox Sparrow,
and at least 7 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the Provincial Park. A Purple Martin
circled with Tree Swallows above Old Cut Woods/banding station. A Common Raven
flew over the intersection of 2nd Concession and Norfolk County Road 23, just
west of Long Point.
Long Point is located at the southern terminus of HWY 59. From Simcoe, take HWY
24 west to 59. Turn left on 59 and cross over the causeway. Continue east along
the road (now called Erie Blvd) until you see signs for the provincial park.
Good birding,
Josh Vandermeulen
