12 Little Gulls were present this morning. They have also begun their courtship displays already this spring. On the gravel bar island in the south central section of the marsh there was a Dunlin and 2 killdeers foraging in between the large gulls loafing there. A pair of Herring Gulls appear to be playing house on one of the tern islands. If they remain it will be the first nest in several years. Other highlights: Waterfowl: 13 species including Wood Duck 4, Gadwall 13,Northern Shoveler 8,Northern Pintail 10, Green-winged Teal 36 1 adult Northern Shrike still on territory Purple Martin 1 with Tree Swallows Northern Mockingbird 1 Directions Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of the lot.
