Hi Birders,
As previously mentioned, things have been fairly slow the last two days. Today
7 warbler species were seen; Yellow-rumped (~50), Pine (4), Palm (6),
Black-throated Green (1), Black-and-white (1), Nashville (1) and N. Waterthrush
(3). A Red-necked Grebe and a Sanderling were seen at the tip of Fish Point
this morning. The female Harlequin Duck is also still being regularly seen at
Sheridan's Point; in the company of 1 Hooded Merganser, 4 Buffleheads, 2
Mallards and several female Red-breasted Merganers-definitely an odd mix!
10 warbler species have been seen since April 26th, highighted by Blackburnian
and Blue-winged, both seen on April 26th.
Other interesting observations;
Upland Sandpiper - April 24th, 1 fly over at Fish Point (Rob Tymstra)
Lesser Black-backed Gull - April 26th, 1 along the Centre Dyke Road (Dean Ware)
Firsts of the Year:
Warbling Vireo - April 26, 1
Swainson's Thrush - April 27, 1
Good Birding,
Ken Burrell
Pelee Island until May 20
