A distant PURPLE SANDPIPER was present this afternoon in the rapids about mid-river above the falls looking out from the third sister island at Goat Island (U.S.). It was foraging on a set of rocks just upstream from the little island with a small shrub-like tree growing on it, and should have been visible looking out from the gatehouse on the Canadian side.
