Hey Birders,
Activity today was very good! A pretty good reverse migration took place this
morning, involving at least 2100 birds. Some of the numbers include;
10 Red-headed Woodpeckers
165 Yellow-rumped Warblers
60 Baltimore Orioles
29 Orchard Orioles
42 Indigo Buntings
I had a probable Lark Sparrow at Fish Point this morning. I had very brief but
good looks of it flying alongside a Chipping Sparrow, seeing the head pattern
and tail. A Prothonotary Wabler was also seen flying off Fish Point. A male
Cerulean Warbler was seen at Middle Point and a Hooded Warbler was banded by
the Pelee Island Bird Observatory. The female Harlequin Duck is also still
kicking around Lighthouse Point. Other interesting firsts of the year include
Gray-cheeked Thrush, Magnolia, Chestnut-sided Warblers and Ovenbird and
Bobolink.
Good Birding,
Ken Burrell
