Birder's Dave Bell phoned me this afternoon after seeing an Anhinga fly over his house heading North. On the off chance that it might return I headed down to the St. Mary's River and spent several hours combing the usual spots. I was scanning from the Ontario side from the Locks complex right at the International Bridge at the rapids looking for the Harlequin Duck Bob Knudsen had the other day. Down river about 300 yards I noted a dark bird soaring across the river about 150 feet or so up. It was a female type Anhinga. I could see well the long fan shaped tail the long neck and buffy front and pointed bill. It continued on over the rapids took a couple quick wingbeats and soared into Michigan airspace and behind a bunch of boats and cranes out of sight. Miraculous luck maybe it will turn up again. Didn't see the Harlequin. The link connects to a map of the area and where I and the Anhinga were. Kirk Zufelt
