Hello Ontbirders,

Birding in High Park, Toronto this morning produced 40 species of birds despite
the occasional heavy downpour. My spring firsts were Baltimore and two Orchard
Orioles (pair at Hillside Gardens), Black-crowned Night Heron, Northern
Rough-winged Swallow, four Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, and one Least Flycatcher.
Had close looks at both Broad-winged and Red-tailed Hawks in the forest along
Spring Road. Found two Black-capped Chickadees at a nest hole in a flowering
crab apple tree. Had four Common Loons and a flock of 60 Blue Jays migrating.
Found six Yellow-rumped and two Pine Warblers, and four White-throated
Sparrows. Several American Toads were calling in the warm humid weather.
Should also have brought a dog varieties checklist!

Good Birding,

Gordon Cameron
