Hello Birders. Toronto Island today was cold and windy, and we had to work for the birds, But Marilynn Murphy and I had a few good sightings. The warblers weren't numerous (10 sp.), but included Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, and a very cooperative Northern Parula. We were struck by the number of paired Canvasbacks on the Island's ponds (probably a dozen pairs), and by a flock of more than 20 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks near the Centre Island ferry dock. The surprise of the day was a Black Tern, seen from the ferry between Centre and Ward's, heading in the general direction of the Spit.
Good birding, Skib _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization. Send bird reports to ONTBIRDS mailing list [email protected] For information about ONTBIRDS visit http://www.ofo.ca/
