Ontbirders Amidst a good flight of shorebirds at Owen Point in Presqu'ile Provincial Park this morning was a Purple-like bird that inexplicably showed some Rock Sandpiper characteristics. Anyone in the area should check out this bird. A Piping Plover was briefly seen but not relocated after being flushed by a Merlin. Also present were two Whimbrel, several Short-billed Dowitchers, Ruddy Turnstones, Dunlin and various peeps. Presqu'ile is located south of Brighton (401 exit 509) and the way to the park is well-signed south of town.
