Sunday morning rain cancelled plans by Marc Bosc and I to go "atlassing" on the
Quebec side in favour of looking for shorebird fall outs at likely sites in the
Ottawa area. Embrum lagoons had 350 Semipalmated Sandpiper along with 1 each
Dunlin, White-rumped Sandpiper and Wilson's Phalarope and 2 Semipalmated
Plover. Casselman had 60 Semipalmated Sandpiper plus 1 each Least, Dunlin,
White-rumped and Pectoral and two Semipalmated Plover; the waders there were
much spooked by a Merlin which managed to nab one of them. Shirley's Bay was
surprisingly wader free, several Semipalmated Sandpipers plus 2 Semipalmated
Plover, along with one Great Egret.
