Ken Niles discovered an adult Snowy Egret in the extreme southwest corner of Cobourg harbour at 11.15 this morning, Monday June 14. It was well seen by several birders before it flew off to the west just before noon. It has just been reported back again in the same spot as I write about 12.15. There is a hiddden cul-de-sac at the south end of the west headland of the harbour and if you don't see the bird from the parking lot it is worth trying to look across the harbour from along the east pier. A scope is helpful. Walking up the west headland is likely to spook the bird.
Directions: Leave Hwy.401 at Exit 474 and drive south on Division Street which ends at the harbour. Drive round the north edge of the harbour to the parking lot on the west side.
