Hello Birders,

As the summer doldrums set in, it's time to enjoy our breeding birds - which
is what I was doing this morning at Kortright Conservation Area. The
highlights were three singing male MOURNING WARBLERS along the Humber River
on the Marsh Trail.

They were easily heard, but it takes a while to see them from the trail due
to the leaves. Try listening off the Ducks Unlimited Viewing Platform on
the boardwalk. Persistence pays off!

Other birds include numerous INDIGO BUNTINGS, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, a
GREEN HERON at the marsh and TRUMPETER SWANS with four cygnets.

There is an entry fee. Maps are available at the Visitor Centre.

A couple of photos and a blog entry can be found here -

Directions:

The Kortright Centre is located three kilometers west of Highway 400
and one kilometer south of Major Mackenzie Drive at 9550 Pine Valley
Drive in Woodbridge.

Good Birding!
