My parents and I briefly saw the American White Pelican soaring out over the lake off the southwest corner of Second Marsh from the viewing platform at 1020 today before contact was lost during an abortive attempt to trade off a scope amongst us while keeping a flying bird in it. It did not re-appear by the time we had to leave at 1035. We were told it had been in the marsh resting until about 1015. If you arrive and don't see it in front of you, more patience than we had allowed for in our schedule may be needed though scanning the horizon could still prove fruitful!
