July 8 - At Rock Point Provincial Park (which is 50 Km. west of Fort Erie on the north shore of Lake Erie) there were: Least Sandpiper 15 Lesser Yellowlegs 1 Caspian Terns 6 Double-crested Cormorants about 600 on Mohawk Island and in the nearby water At Mozaic Ponds there were: Short-billed Dowitchers 10 Greater Yellowlegs 2 Lesser Yellowlegs 4 Least Sandpipers 4 To get to Mozaic Ponds from Rock Point - At the intersection of Nice and Downy Roads at Rock Point go north on Downy Road 1 Km, then turn left (west) on Rymer Road and stop after about 200 meters The shorebirds were in the ponds on the north side of the road. On the way back to the Niagara River we had Least Sandpipers at most of our five stops. Brendan and Robert Klick and I had 47 Common Mergansers in Fort Erie (but I only saw 44 of them). There was also a Redheaded Woodpecker near the intersection of Thunder Bay and Kraft Roads in Fort Erie.
