My apologies. That should have been Spotted Sandpipers. I should get out of the heat :-)
Pied-billed Grebes can still be seen in the storm management pond on Aquaview Drive in Orleans (east end of Ottawa). The pond is bordered by Lake Point on the one side and Silverado Crescent on the other. There have been 4 to 6 family of Pied-billed Grebes at this one pond over the past couple of months. W.Hum www.pbase.com/golfpic Directions: Head east on the Queensway and take the Orleans exit at the split. Continue east past Orleans until Tenth Line. Exit and drive up Tenth Line to Innes. Turn left on Innes until Esprit. Turn right on Esprit and right again at Aquaview. Continue to Silverado Crescent. The pond is on the left. > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Sat, 10 Jul 2010 17:51:12 +0000 > Subject: [Ontbirds] Great Egret (Ottawa) update > > As timing would have it, by the time I walked back to the car and then > back....just in time to see the Great Egret take flight headed eastward and > then over to the Quebec side.
