21.07.10 - at Carden Plain Alvar late this afternoon, a Grasshopper Sparrow, in
full view, greeted our entry with its song. Later, around 9.15pm, from the
mixed forest along Doyle's Road, came loud and clear, the call of a
Chuck-will's-widow.
Directions for Chuck-will's-widow
>From Kirkfield take Kawartha Lakes Road 48 about 4.4 km east to Kawartha Lakes
>Road 35 also called Victoria Road. Turn left, north, for about 4.4 km to Doyle
>Road on right and go just past where the hydro lines cross the road. If coming
>from south end of Wylie Road, take McNamee to the end at Kawartha Lakes Road
>35. Turn right south for .5 km to Doyle Road and turn left to just past hydro
>lines, less than 1km.
