Dave Wheeler and I stopped at Rock Point and nearby Mosiac Ponds this evening (7/29) with the highlights from Rock Point being singles of Short-billed Dowitcher (juv.), Ruddy Turnstone, Black-bellied Plover, and White-rumped Sandpiper amongst roughly 40 shorebirds total--most of being Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, in addition to 3 Semipalmated Plovers. Also present was an adult Bonaparte's Gull. The highlight from Mosiac ponds on Rymer Rd. just north of the park was a flock of 5 ad. Stilt Sandpipers amongst 20+ Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, and Semi, Least, Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer. Roughly a third of the Lesser Yellowlegs were juveniles while several juvenile Least Sandpipers were observed between Rock Point and Mosiac. The only other real highlight from the N. Erie shore between Fort Erie and Dunnville was a single drake Redhead dabbling amongst Mallards at the end of Stonemill Rd. in Fort Erie.
