This afternoon at 5:20 pm in NE winds, Barry Cherriere and I had a juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger off Hamilton's Van Wagners Beach. The bird was a fair distance out but was in view for about half an hour as it lazily flew back and forth in its unique foraging flight, doing frequent stalls and landing on the water briefly.
Directions to Van Wagners Beach: Take the Centennial Parkway (Hwy.20) exit from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North Service Rd., turn left and continue west as it turns into Van Wagners Beach Road. Continue to the parking lots at either Hutch's Restaurant or the Lakeland Centre viewing tower and view the lake anywhere near here. Rob Dobos Dundas, Ont. [email protected]
