Weather: The day started warm with little or no wind. Visibility was fair up to 6kms, which stayed the same for the remainder of the day. During the afternoon, moderate winds picked up from the southwest. A cold front coming from the southwest is on it's way, and will probably slow down migration for a few days. Raptor Observations: Good movement today of specifically Bald Eagles, with 4! counted. Only 20 individual raptors where counted as migratory. A bit of a slow first day to this season. Non-raptor Observations: Predictions: Low pressure cold front coming from the south west might put the migration on hold. Hopefully the warm water in Lake Erie can create enough of a barrier to keep smaller storms from hitting the count site directly. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
