Weather: A strong West wind of 19-24 MPH (28-39 KMPH) kept birds generally low and kept the humidity also low (63%-45%) and decreasing throughout the day. Temperature began at 13.7C and ended at 18.0C even though the cloud cover increased. There were large gaps between the clouds. No precipitation and very good visibility 16+ km. Raptor Observations: Few birds as expected with high winds and early September. Kestrels were in the majority and they flew fast and with purpose. A few birds lingered as though they were residents and were treated as such. Not a good day for learning 'normal' raptor flight characteristics. NO SHARPIES! Non-raptor Observations: Non-raptors were on parade, especially swallows. Warblers were many in the bushes within other areas of the conservation area.
