I was in Waterloo Park in the late afternoon on 7 Sept. and saw a great egret wading around in Silver Lake. I watched it for about half an hour while it fished in the shallows. A passerby I spoke to said he had seen the bird earlier in the day.

The easiest access to this spot is via Erb St and Father David Bauer Dr. Park at the lot next to the Train Station; cross to the east side of the tracks and follow the foot path a short distance to the bridge that crosses the west end of the lake. From there the path curves around the north side of the lake, with decent views from the boardwalk.
