Despite the strong southerly winds today, there were quite a few warblers
at Prince Edward Point. The best locations were Traverse Woods, the lighthouse
and Little Bluff. Twice I was surrounded by a mixed flock of about thirty
birds. Seventeen species of warblers were observed with the best being an
Orange-crowned Warbler by the lighthouse. Other warblers species include 3
Northern Parula, 3 Nashville, 3 Chestnut-sided, 20 Magnolia, 10 Black-throated
Blue, 1 Blackburnian, 100 Yellow-rumped, 20 Black-throated Green, 2 Palm, 2
Pine, 2 Bay-breasted, 10 Blackpoll, 1 Black and White, 3 American Redstarts, 2
Ovenbirds and 1 Common Yellowthroat. Also seen were 5 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 3
Merlin, 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker, 1 Solitary
Sandpiper, 1 Common Raven, 3 Red-eyed and 1 Blue-headed Vireos and 1 Swainson's
Thrush.
